Well now, people like to do all sort of things to make things "better", one way or another.
So I think we should have a vote on who goes first!

I vote for you 01-7700, since you're the admin here on the Forum, so I feel you should take one for the team! (Or perhaps you haven't gotten an R3 Rebel yet..?)
I haven't picked out an R3 yet. :crying:
 
Yeah I remember reading that somewhere.
In that case I feel you should get one, for the sake of knowledge! People need answers! lol :p
I hope to get an R3 before the end of the year but it won't be modified in any way. I'm a believer that Honda engineers optimize the design / performance of their bikes so my Shadow 750 and future R3 will be left alone. However, don't leave your 1st generation Rebel sitting around my house too long or it will be Frankensteined.

I just tested the coffman shorty with a passenger, and sat on the back myself. The exhaust blows about a half inch below the passenger peg. I didn't feel any hot air on my foot when i sat in the back, nor did the passenger complain when i rode around the block with them.

That said, I still wouldn't recommend a passenger wear flip flops or sandals.

I knew a guy that wore sandles once on his crouchrocket. Needless to say, he lost a few toes, broke an ankle, twisted his leg when he went down. Idiot.

I just ordered the k-speed. We will see how long it takes to get to Canada. May not be able to test it until Next year! I had picked up a little emgo universal for it but the angle of the stock pipe is all wrong, and I can't cut it back without having to re weld an O2 bung further up the head pipe.

As for just pulling the stock slip on. I ride an 01 883 sportster with Bassani sweeper pipes and no baffles. The rebel Is louder sans muffler then my dang Harley is!

Sorry for the late response, was out of the country for past week and a half on vacation. After riding around with the coffman slip on for a few months you get accustomed to the louder tone and isn't too bad sound wise. Definitely gets a whole lot more respect from other bikers around now.

Riding performance seems about the same as stock, no noticeable drop. There's a slight hesitation in the mid range, but that only lasts for two minutes from when the bike is started cold. Once riding it goes away. Still very happy with it. Biggest advantage is you can now hear the engine so shift points have changed dramatically, which makes for a much better riding experience.

I would've liked an exhaust that stays Somewhat flush/ parallel with the bike instead of angling out, but haven't seen anything on the market that does that yet. The shorty Coffman seemed like it angled out less than a full size slip on like the tbr. I think anything you choose over stock will put a smile on your face. Let us know what route you go

Yeah I feel the same.
I want a double headed slip on that follows the rear frame that holds the backwheel. Is that so much to ask for?
Every single slip on for the bike is straight from the mounting point on the exhaust and streight up to the original fastening place, making them all stand at that werid angle and "straight" out from the bike. *sigh*
 
I am going to wait a while for an aftermarket muffler. Eventually when Vance & Hines and some of the other U.S. manufacturers get interested in the 2017 Rebel we will get good looking exhaust systems. If we don't I have a real good local muffler shop that has made me adapters in the past to use Harley Dyna Mufflers on my Jap bikes

And when you're stuck in Norway on top of it all, choises can be quite limited... Bah..

The muffler in the picture cost me $25.00 and the adapter cost me $20.00.

There are a lot of different designs available on slightly used Harley Mufflers and they last forever. Most guys wouldn't want the chrome so I think bead blasting and powder coating might add another $30.00 to the total cost and throw in a couple of bucks for clamps and fasteners and a guy could have a pretty decent setup for $100.00

I think once a decent full exhaust is available for the 300 I'll swap my coffman for that (as long as it doesn't cost an arm and a leg).
Hopefully by spring there will be a lot more on the market.
