Looks good, I like it. Based on the sound clip you posted in another thread it sounds a lot better than stock!

Any change in performance noticed?

It seems like it has a little more get up and go but that could be just me gaining more confidence! Took it out tonight with the baffle out and wow is it loud! I like it but not sure if it's too much.

Now im stuck between the Coffman Shorty or the Musarri exhaust for my 500.

They are both the same price on ebay, was wondering what you guys think I should go with? The main thing I am worried about is the not to lose any power, since the bike doesnt really have much to lose :(

As far as performance with the Coffman on a rebel 300:

When cold started there's a bit of mid-range lag, but that only lasts for a couple minutes. I'm assuming the computer/fuel-injection does some kind of adjustments and then it disappears and performance is fine across the board. My shift points and acceleration both improved.

With the stock muffler i'd top out at 79-80 mph. With the coffman and saddle bags (which should slow it down due to wind resistance), i now hit 86mph and still climbs (ran out of room to keep going full throttle). Now, that could be because the motor is better broken in now so I don't want to give you the impression that you'll suddenly go faster with a slip-on. These are just my results. My stats are 5'11" 215-220 lbs depending if I ate beforehand.

I just got it on the other night and unfortunately have not had much riding time☹ but in the short time I rode I did not notice a loss of power. I am also on 260 miles in on it so I haven't really gotten to know the bike either. I like the sound of both but I will say the Musarri white the baffle in sounds better than stock but is not a whole lot louder when riding. Baffle out, however, is a whole other story! For me, I just preferred the look of the Musarri on the bike.

In need of advice. I recently bought a Rebel 500 and I’m looking at 2 different exhaust. I’m stuck between a Coffman and Musarri exhaust. I’m leaning towards the Coffman but I’m having an issue with it being too close to the passenger pegs. Does anyone know if the Coffman would be a problem with packing someone? Or would a Musarri be a better choice? Thanks everyone!

In need of some advice and opinions.
As awesome as the coffman slip on is...i'm getting a bit irritated sounding like a dirt bike when accelerating.
I'm thinking this is mostly due to it being so short. My research is telling me to get a quieter and lower tone sound I need a longer muffler.
the TBR is in consideration, but I have saddlebags that hang a bit low and it looks like the angled mufflers will hit it.

Does anyone know of an aftermarket that cuts straight back instead of angled up? Another option is to just order a link pipe and use a general aftermarket slip on.
I believe shorty83 did this w/ an emgo but wasn't too satisfied with the sound. Any other suggestions for a universal slip-on if this is the better route?

Also, I'm on a single cylinder 300, not a v-twin 500 like most of you. Am I destined to always sound like a dirt bike?

Sadly there are not really any options that go straight back. To me it is kind of weird, the styling on the rebel kind of suggest that the exhaust should go straight back its one of the things i dont love about the two bros exhaust. But the sound improvement from it was worth it.

Im not sure if possible, but maybe get the two bros and bring it to an exhaust shop and see if they can either rebend it or weld on a new pipe to make it go straight back. They make bracket attachments so you will still have a way to screw it down.

A s far as the 300 goes, it will not sound like the 500. But because of the single cylinder it should actually sound a bit better. Having a cone type exhaust like the two bros should help give it a deeper less dirt bike like sound.

Arrow makes a nice one.

Arrow makes a slip-on and a full exhaust that I really like the sound of and it is straight back in design.

Youtube video of sound:

Finding places to order it is a bit of a pain though AND it is rather pricey. Ebay has it here (I think it's the same model as the YT video): https://www.ebay.com/i/202254909959?chn=ps

This, the Musarri and the Yoshimura 34 are the ones I'm considering. The Arrow sounds closest to what I want but everyone is different.

If you want it more silenced, then baffle, baffle, and more baffle, is the way to go.
Longer pipes will not directly make it more silent, but it will make the sound deeper, more of a "growl" than the screaming you have now. The more pipe (as in longer/wider) you have, the deeper the sound will be.
And it being the 300 doesn't exactly help either, as a single cylinder engine will still have it's "signature sound" with just about any exhaust system you have on the bike.
But, as mentioned, the arrow might just be your best shot at getting what you're after here.

Oh boy...I have a problem here. I keep hovering the clicker over the order button of the TBR and wasn't planning on spending $400 today :frown2:
The arrow exhaust looks and sounds great...but that $600 is hard to swallow. I haven't seen many people on these forums w/ a 300 and a TBR slip on. If there are, please chime in and let me know how it sounds at highway speeds.

Chances are my impulses are going to get the best of me and I'll order something today.
What's holding me back from the TBR is not knowing if the saddlebags will be an issue. Below are some older pics of my bike w/ the saddlebags. Those w/ the TBR what do you think as far as clearance? The only reference i have is looking at pictures and judging it's distance from the brake caliper.

The top of the TBR exhaust sits just about even with (maybe a hair below) the mount for the passenger peg on the right side.

Those are Viking medium bags in the picture.

Aye, that price is a choke point for me too. I love the sound but sheesh. At first I thought, "that's not a bad price for an exhaust system" then found out that price was for the Slip-On only and the Full System cost $1k!

It does sound great though so I'm still leaning that way.

*sigh*...well I bit the bullet and just ordered the TBR.
Figured I could do all the research I want, but you can never truly know how it sounds unless it's in person not over computer speakers.
And seeing as no one around my neck of the woods has a rebel, let alone a 300, buying my own was the only option. Every video is pretty much just starting it up and revving it a few times, so I'll try to do a drive-by recording when it comes in. Both low rpm riding and full throttle pass by to help future members.

To save a few bucks I went with the stainless steel version, so stay tuned for those who want to see how it looks on an all black model. If I don't like it nothing a little bit of ceramic paint can't fix. Came out to $329 on amazon.

Now you guys have to help me with my second problem...what's a good excuse to tell the wife when the parts show up? :surprise:

DollarBill to Wife: "Emissions control honey, I'm thinking of the cute, fuzzy baby seals!" ;)

Look forward to your vids/recordings once you get it installed. Congrats on the new exhaust sir!

either A> something happened to the one you have now (and then MAKE something happen to it) LOL
or B> you can resell the current one, and you cant find the original stock one (again-then make the stock one "disappear")
0:)

Well...turns out I'm not so smart and sold the bracket I needed to mount the muffler to when I sold my passenger seat and peg mounts. Gonna need to order that (and bolts) asap. Any chance someone out there can hook me up with part numbers?

Did a mock set up in the mean time and started it up. Surprisingly much louder than the Coffman. Wasn't expecting that.
