I bought the knockoff and waiting for delivery. My phone case has a texture on the back which will likely diminish the adhesion of any tape. For the universal adapter, I was thinking to remove the tape and use epoxy to fasten it to my phone case. This way, if my phone flies off, it will bring the whole assembly with it.

FYI, if the knockoff doesn't have vibration dampening it could cause damage to the phone.

Thanks for mentioning, I would not have thought of it, but read about it from someone on this forum. I got it with a dampener.

The one issue I did have was that the rubber gasket for the mount wasn't thick enough and the next size was too thick. So I wrapped several layers of black electrical tape around the bar where I was mounting it and it snugged up nicely. So, just an FYI that you may or may not have the same issue.
