Quad lock knockoff

So I just bought a quad lock knock off on AliExpress. Even comes with a vibration dampener and it cost me a whopping $3.81 including shipping.
Of course it's coming on a boat from China and will take a month to get here.

Real curious if anyone here has tried one of these things. I have seen the video on YouTube comparing the 2, and it seems like it might be halfway decent. Only time will tell. I guess I will have to post an update once I get it.

Lol.... I know right. They did a head to head video on YouTube this vs quad lock, and the only difference was the 3m tape on the knockoff was weaker. That is an easy fix. Also I could buy the quad lock phone case and it will work with this mount. So for $40 I get the case and for $3 I get the mount. Still saves me $60.

I have had about 50/50 success buying stuff from Ali Express. I bought a pair of Ali Express plexiglass wind wings for another bike I own (8$ compared to OEM $70), I only replaced the right side, and after 3 months its noticeably yellowing. But I bought a set of sliders and tank bag for my Rebel, and they are both great.

Don't buy a helmet from them, however. SHOEI does not make a $57 dollar helmet (no matter what Ali Express says).

Yeah... I trust everything on it except the knock off 3M tape they are using. That is the weakest point. I do have full insurance on my phone but I plan on trying to test the strength of that connection before using it. I always have the option of getting the actual quad lock case for $40 and it is compatible. It is sort of the direction I am leaning.

I do appreciate the opinions, but I do just want to throw this thought out there.
Where do you think the quad lock is made? America? No, it is cheaply made at a factory in china, shipped to the US where it is packaged and marked up 30 fold and sold for $100.... For a piece of plastic and some bolts. It could very well be that the knock offs are made by the very same factory that makes the name brand.... I am all for understanding that R and D has a price and a value. But the price for a quad lock is astronomical for what it is.... Like wise a phone case from them with a notch in the back costing $40 for $0.20 worth of plastic is obnoxious. $20 maybe, but $40 is crazy.
I am more than willing to spend $3 to evaluate this product and see if it meets some minimum quality IMO. If it does great for me, and great for those who read this thread and can maybe save themselves money.... Now, if quad lock was reasonably priced at maybe $40-50, I probably wouldn't even be considering a knockoff.

I have one of these knock-off quad locks, I’ve been using it for around six months with a Samsung phone.
I am surprised it’s lasted this long with no issues.
I would expect to renew it every year as the sun is so strong here, it destroys plastic and rubber at an alarming rate.

I don’t have the damper & no issues with the phone, but 3 months ago a pickup took me out trying to do a sudden U- turn, but that’s another story. The phone flew off the Quad lock on impact and followed me along the slide but the Samsung survived the ordeal better than I.

Just got mine in the mail and it seemed perfect... Heavy duty, well made.
Went to attach it to the handle bars and it doesn't fit. Too loose. Not sure if it is the rubber spacer or the bar clamp itself. If the rubber spacer is actually too small I can order some from Quad Lock, but if the bar clamp is too big quad lock doesn't sell those separately. So, do I drop another $10 to find out if it is the spacer, or maybe I just wrap electrical tape around the spacer to make it larger. Gonna be a tight squeeze with all the wires there.

How are you planning to attach the phone? Do you plan to use the peel and stick adapter they include, or purchase the OE Quadlock case?

I was going to try the peel and stick to try to gauge how strong that bond was and then buy a quad lock case if I didn't trust it. For right now however, I am doing nothing until I can figure out how to get the bar clamp tight enough. Very tempted to buy the quad lock rubber spacers but I am not convinced that it isn't the bar clamp that is too big. The 7/8 spacer is huge, the clamp won't come close to closing. The 1" closes fine but just not tight enough to hold in place, the screw bottoms out and I can slide the clamp up and down the bar. I got the vibration dampener too and the quality all seems pretty decent.

Update: so I wrapped electrical tape around the rubber spacer. The tape is a bit wider than the spacer so it wasn't real smooth, but it got the job done. Looped it about 4 times and now the bar clamp locks in place.
I used the universal mount that came with it which consists of a 2 sided tape cutout which you place on your cover or right on your phone, then the locking mechanism also has tape. So you are adhering tape to tape. I tried my hardest to pull it off and it is really in there. So I went for a run and to be honest I was pretty sure it wasn't going to hold. Went about 30 miles with top speeds of about 60mph. When down some uncomfortably bumpy roads and though it shook a LOT (sometimes unviewable) that thing held on there.
I have the arm mounted 90 degrees to the side (parallel to the handle bar) and I am getting a lot of giggle, I think if I move the arm to a more vertical position, perpendicular to the bar, there will be less movement.

The electrical tape glue may let go in the hot sun at least that has been my experience.

I bought the knockoff and waiting for delivery. My phone case has a texture on the back which will likely diminish the adhesion of any tape. For the universal adapter, I was thinking to remove the tape and use epoxy to fasten it to my phone case. This way, if my phone flies off, it will bring the whole assembly with it.
