I saved up the money in full and tried to find a bike but can't. This was going to be my first bike and I can't even find one in all of northern Illinois. Ive tried 8-10 different dealerships. They all say they are sold out and can't order more. Does anyone know if/when they will be restocked?

172 miles away. Hell, I've gone farther than that for an1986 Yamaha SRX600.

Hucks

Call every dealer close enough to drive to. 172 miles is nothing if you really want one. I took a demo 1100 dct with 56 miles on it (I was one of the demo riders) because I could get it the day I walked in to buy and did not feel like waiting for an unknown length of time till they got the next one in. Supply and demand for this model is different at many dealers/states. If they know one is coming and unsold, they might tell you. My local dealer (too far away for you) has had one on the floor for over a month now.

Pack your riding gear, take your money, have a friend drive you in your car, buy him lunch, Do the deal, have friend follow you riding it home. Shipping can be problematic if they damage it and costly. woops.... It being your first bike worries me unless you have some riding experience. I guess you can rent a Uhaul trailer (they have great ones for bikes) and haul it home if you have a vehicle with a hitch or access to a truck and bike ramps/tie downs.

I think I found a dealer that will ship it from Ohio. From what I read shipping rates shouldnt be that bad. I didnt want to ride a motorcycle back home hundreds of miles away as a beginner so Ima have one shipped so I can practice.

Have you done the basic motorcycle safety course? You really should have some time on a motorcycle(s) prior to the Rebel 1100. Even a few days on a lighter, less powerful bike could save some expensive damage to a new Rebel 1100 (or yourself). If you haven't, and are determined to start with the 1100, I highly recommend that you start out with the bike in Rain mode.

Walk into your selected dealer, toss them $1,000.00 they will have one in about a month. Stop waiting to see one. If thats the bike you want go make it happen. I did just that about a month ago and they told me it would take 1 1/2 months but it was early.

My buddy works at a Honda dealer, and I literally went through the same thing last week. All the DCTs are sold out on the west coast with the exception of 2. One in Southern Oregon, one in northern California. Dealers aren’t getting anymore, deposits or not. Supply chain has shutdown in SE Asia and all Hondas are in limited inventories. I drove 155 miles to get mine this past Wednesday. Another guy came in that same morning but I was there first. Don’t wait, put a $1000 down and get over to the dealer, otherwise you’re waiting til next spring for the 2022’s. Which are also going to be in short supply. My closest dealer has 7 deposits on any new ones coming in. I live in the PNW so most riders are seasonal, rain starts soon. I ride in most conditions except snow, and this bike is my daily. It really depends on how bad you want one.

I got mine from a dealer 245 miles away. Get some good ratchet straps, rent a U-Haul trailer and drive it to the dealer. They will probably help you load it and then you trailer it home. It’s around $30 to rent the trailer for the day and good ratchet straps aren’t too expensive either.

I'm in Houston, TX. We put a $1000.00 deposit down on one in April, and it was supposed to be in by the end of May. Then it was the end of June, then July, now September and they don't know when they will get one in...they said they've even reached out to other dealers with no luck. Unfortunately, it was non-refundable, and we only agreed to it because they had a red one (which was already sold - but I want black anyways)...I can't just walk away from $1000 bucks.
