Adjustable Levers

A listing on eBay finally referenced the Rebel levers as compatible with a Honda Fury / VTX1300CX. So now a search for adjustable levers for the fury gets you many choices as low as $20 pair. I waited to post this until I got a pair and checked the fit which is a-ok. A little sloppy with its assembly, but fits perfectly and the shorties are awesome! Best upgrade ever.
And I now see a listing specific for the Rebel as well.

On the subject of levers, let me throw in to the pot that if the stock levers are too far from the grip for you, standby to standby. My spouse has called every company who makes a lever for the new Rebel and they all adjust outward. If you have very petite woman hands, well, we are out of luck right now. The funny thing is that when you call and ask them why in the world they would make a lever to adjust "out" for such a small bike, they have no answer. Apparently only men or women with gorilla sized hands ride these bikes. Sorry, I just had to send a pair back b/c it never occurred to me that they wouldn't adjust in and it's really irritating to be a short, small handed rider sometimes b/c the world doesn't accommodate us small people. On the upside...I really love my 500!!!

I think it depends on the bike, not the levers.

I put Misano shorty levers on mine, and adjusted them both to the #1 setting. The brake lever is much closer than it was with the stock levers, while there was little change to the clutch lever reach. If I were more OCD, this would bother me, as the levers are no longer symmetrical lol.

Notice, though, that the friction point on our clutches is very close to the grip, while on other bikes (a friend has a 2009 Yamaha, for instance) it's further out, which would potentially allow for a closer adjustment.

Thanks for all the info! I ordered and got the short "7 Click GP Adjustable Levers for Honda CMX 500 / 300 Rebel 2017" from ebay.

These are also cheapie levers and also suffer from the slight "wobble". I reckon the reason for the wobble is that these cheap ones don't have a bushing.

The clutch lever was still too far for me so I used @dunf's idea to use a spacer. I cut the heads off cable ties and glued them to the lever. I've gone on a short ride and so far they are holding fine. If they don't hold then will look at tapping some small screws in their place.

I have the brake lever setting on 4 and the clutch on 5 - controls definitely much better for me (I'm 5'7)!

Not a bad upgrade for AUD40 but had I noticed the missing bushing I would have tried a different set.

So, after 10000+ kilometres, could say something about mine el cheapos:laugh:. Apart being little wobly in connections from start, the feeling is still the same as it was at start of using them, so definitely not lemon (for me, at least:wink2:). Paint (eloxation?) holds surprisingly well, since bike is parked outside (under balcony) during riding season...

Only problem with that (earlier?) aftermarket levers is that clutch lever closest position is maybe a tad closer to the handlebar than original and so not very suitable for short handed person. I have three sets of levers and all perform the same- satifactory and, yes I have to rearrange cable lenght for them to act accordingly. And if you shotren travel of lever, you should accept that you will have trouble with shifting- find neutral, as you cannot fight with phisics (factory projected clutch action with levers as you got them on the bike new and if you altered them, you should come into troubles).

I installed a set of adjustable shorties on my rebel, but was wondering if I needed to remove the bushing from the old clutch lever and pop it into the new lever? There seemed no easy way of removing the old bushing from the original lever. All the videos I looked at for clutch replacement seemed to re-use the old bushing, admittedly none of the videos used the Rebel as an example.

Cheers,
