Hey all,

Quick ques from a noob:

Would the Honda OEM windshield for our Rebels make any sort of diff? I ask because I plan on doing some longish type of rides (longer than just tooling around town) but the OEM shield seems small. Is it just for looks or will actually do something positive above 50 mph etc??

Thanks!

Unfortunately it turns out you can't have it all. The size of a windshield is directly proportional to its ugliness and ability to deflect wind. A small and sexy windscreen like the Honda OEM is very cool, and very small, so in return you get little wind deflection.

I have seen a new type pop up on eBay, which may strike a nice balance but I'm not willing to throw down $125 on it as it is a little garish.

^^That.

Sizeable windshields that actually work only look good on the bigger bikes with all the flash and dressing.

I agree with this. Unless you have the full fairing and lower deflectors in place, a large windshield will cut the wind but creates a lot of turbulence between your body and the windshield. So you have a choice between a steady full force of wind against your head and chest (which I prefer), or it feels to me like rag-dolling a bit behind the windshield.
