Just got renewal for registration, DMV will not re-register until recall repair is done.
Problem is my bike isn't in the vin recall number range, mine is 2018 rebel 300 vin J5100179. Recall starts at J5101699. I will have to go to the dealer tomorrow and see if I can get an explanation or exempt letter to send to DMV.
These are the vin numbers for recall KK3

The dealer should give you a pass, I hope it's a quick fix for all involved.
My bike was one of the ones impacted, apparently its an avg. 7hr service. Depending on your dealer could be done in a day or two. Mine said it should be done by tomorrow. (Dropped it off Wednesday)

Went to the dealer and found out there was two recalls

KK3 for trans repair, this one for 300.

KJ3 for evap hose replacement, this one is for 300 & 500. About 1 hr for 300 repair and 2 hr for 500 repair.

Got the KJ3 repair kit and certificate to re-register the 300.

Like the original poster, I received my first notice about the recall via a registration renewal notice from the California DMV. This is for a 2018 Rebel 500 - non abs in Calif. .The fix for the KJ3 recall was done by my dealer during the 600 mile service. But the dealer forgot to do the paperwork and my state's DMV added the recall requirement to my yearly registration notice. I went to the dealer to find out what was happening and he explained it to me. The dealer also provided me the "pink form" that I took to the DMV that proved that the recall repair was done. I paid my fees and that was it. I was not charged by the dealer for the KJ3 recall repair or the late paperwork.
