Has anyone had a problem with the oil level window cracking? I have a 2021 Rebel 500 ABS that I picked up April 24th. I was checking the oil level today and noticed a crack across the window. Running my finger along the bottom the side case I came up with a small amount of oil on it. It's not dripping on the garager floor or exhaust, so it seems very slow......so far. I'll be calling the dealer Monday but I doubt he has the part in stock. Bummer.
i have not sorry, my 2017 still in good shape. i would definitely take it back, though they might give you trouble if you can't prove it didn't happen from your end (drop etc..). Hope for the best

If it comes with the whole cover, I hope they'll take it under warranty. Replacing the whole crankcase cover is pretty much an engine-rebuild level of effort, minus playing around with the internals. At the very least, it means draining all the oil out and opebing the engine up. Labour time alone is gonna be a bummer if you have to pay for it.
The good news is that the window isn't cracked after all. I dropped the right foot peg/brake assembly for a closer look and it appeared to be something on the glass (gum maybe?). A Q-tip with alcohol cleaned it right up. Now, where is the oil coming from? After 130 miles on the bike the oil level was at the lower mark. It was near the middle when I picked up the bike. I added some oil and will keep an eye on it.
Checking the oil by myself is a pain. Holding the bike upright with one hand while crouching down is pretty scary. I did see a Youtube video where the guy sat on the bike, put a level on the tank and snapped a picture of the window with his phone. My '76 CB550F had a nice, old fashioned dipstick. The good old days.....
That's a good tip with the camera. I don't think you need to be that precise when checking the oil. If I position my bike just right regarding lighting I can see the oil level rise and fall as I shift the bike left to right and left sitting on the seat and looking to the right and under my leg. With practice I think I can determine where the average level falls and compare that to the position of the bike. It seems that 10 degrees either side of vertical makes the oil go below the window or fill the window. I'm good with that for a daily check.
I had the same issue on a 2023 Honda Rebel 500 ABS SE. The solution you found cleaning the viewing port with alcohol also 'fixed' the problem for me. Seems like someone is a bit crazy with glue in the factory
