Hello!

I'm a new rider - just took the intro course and will be purchasing a 2017 Rebel 500 this weekend. Super excited to join this community! I had originally planned to get a naked bike like the CB300F, but have since decided the Rebel 500 is a better option.

Welcome!! I'm a new rider too. Haven't taken the course yet, but have it booked. I have the rebel 300. Thinking on it, I should of probably got the 500, but with my budget and inexperience, stuck with the 300. Absolutely nothing wrong besides some comfort issues, and lack of passing power on highway.

Welcome. I wish I could have started on this bike. The 500 will certainly last a while unless you get the itch for something else.
Most folks can say the same. Lucky for riders these days is they have more communities like this to rely on and have a wider range of bikes to choose from. That might be why i'm seeing more new riders flock to Rebel's and Rebel type bikes.

Welcome aboard friend and congratulations !! Have you gotten the opportunity to sit on a Rebel or are you just ordering out ??
I was fortunate enough to figure a few things out early on. I took the intro course (learningcurves.ca - a fantastic group) and was able to spend the entire 2 days on a CB300F. At that point, i'd fallin in love with the bike! I really like Honda, so i knew i'd be leaning in that direction anyway. I wasn't able to try the older rebel at the course, and had no idea the 2017 version was so much different. I fully intended to get a CB300F, but started looking into 500 class bikes, as many people were telling me i'd likely want an upgrade in 6 months. The Rebel 500 caught my attention in a big way!

I was called by my local dealership, which was hosting a ride-test day, and jumped at the opportunity! I was able to ride a CB300F (newer), Rebel 500 ABS and also, a CB500F. It was also a bit rainy. All i can say is, i loved the Rebel! i ordered one, and should get it on June 5th.

Welcome to the forum and to the wonderful world of motorcycle riding! I absolutely love my Rebel 500 and so glad I didn't go for the 300. Just took it for a long weekend and put some 8 hours riding. Except for the atrociously uncomfortable stock seat, the bike is amazing!

Glad to hear you got a chance to not only sit on one but even test it out and ride it around! No surprises which is great, and June 5th is right around the corner. Time to start looking into potential accessories and maybe order things in before the bike gets here so you'll be right on time? ;)

yES! You want accessories, order them now because just about everything is back-ordered. I got lucky, my dealer stoled, sorta, the saddlebag mounts from another order destined for somewhere else, and I'll get them June 5th instead of August 21st. lol. Saddle bags were 2 weeks out when I ordered them and they will be in June 8th.

They taking orders and taking names, get yours in when you can, you may be waiting awhile. lol.

The parts are available on Hondas website and Ebay with just a couple days shipping. No shortage in sight on any of the parts that have been released here yet.
