I took the Rebel 300 for a 50 mile ride today. At one section the speed limit was 75 so I brought it up to 70 for about 3 miles. Although I knew it could have done 75, it felt like 70 was pushing it. What would be the maximum sustainable speed for say 25-30 miles on the 300? I'm sure there are various opinions on this and I would like to hear them all.

Well it isn't a cut and dry question. It would depend on rider weight. But it can likely sustain 70-75 mphs.
The bigger problem with the 300 is Vibration. The handlebars at the speed would be vibrating quite a lot due to the bike being single cylinder. This would likely cause hand numbmess or soreness for rides at that speed for long periods.

You can safely run the engine flat out for as long as you want Having fuel injection and a computer to control it there will be a built in safety system to stop it destroying it's self
