Which bike/year??
Rebel 1100 all years...is a selectable option...if an owner doesn't like it it be can turned off...see owner's manual Instrument section settings on how to toggle it

your bike doesn't have the option

Old habits are hard to break. I have that feature off on my 1100. I like to reset my miles manually. I do like the range reading as it's easier than guessing the fuel gage blocks.

I ran out of gas on a bike that estimated 10 mlies of range left. The float arm needed to be bent upwards a bit to be correct or maybe underestimate so it doesn't happen again.

I don't use my trip meters much, but I've found my 1100's estimated range left to be pretty close, at least when getting low on fuel. Never run it out of gas to be certain, but I've pulled in for gas after the range display blanked out at 10 miles and put in close to Honda's tank size.
