Here I will show you how I will connect and put on heated grips. THIS INVOLVES DIGGING INTO BIKE'S HARNESS, SO IF YOU ARE NOT CONFIDENT WITH SUCH , DON'T DO IT!!! Let somebody, technically minded help you!
Soo, first, our bikes an inch handlebars, so be careful, when buying grips (thank you Firecracker to point this out:wink2:).
Ok, so we have grips, it's nice to have some fast curing epoxy on hand... and so work can began...
Rubber grips... was lots of sweat, but in the end they come off undamaged- they were glued on bars, so be prepared:laugh:
Seat, gas tank must go off bike. Then unconnect all connectors under tank and pit connector pllate away. I was searching for switched power, which goes from power switch, it was some butchery (still remember, don't do this, if you don't know what you are doing), so I have to go from sealed connectors to something easily available here0:)). Ok, switched power we now have- why? Since I want power grips via relay, this we need for switch main power in relay. Power to grips will go directly from battery. Till now I prepared all wires and relay, have to do- route wires from grips, switch from handlebars to under tank, connect everything and hopefully everything will work.

Was playing with connections and routing cables... They're lyning near main harnes, till batery comparement and there will be added a cable for battery tender... Only purple cables (switched power) will be just protruding below gasoline reservoir :)omeasure twice, cut once... too short), to have easy acces to fuse...
For more work is too cold right now (unheated garage, I have) and it's snowing right now here.

Is there a manufacturer making heated grips that could just be plugged into the Battery Tender cable that is already installed on my Rebel?

I am not ready to go to the rewiring that you did, but my hands do get cold. I would like to find Bark Busters that would fit on our handle bars to deflect the cold air from my hands.

Here all manufacterers are same, you got cables with earrings and fusebox on positive and that you could hook directly to batery, just don't forget to turn them off, in the end of the riding!

The Oxford premium grips come with a temp controller that has built-in auto-off. So you only have to hook it directly to the battery without digging into anything. Installation couldn’t be easier.

Did you have to remove the fuel tank?

Did you have to trim the rubber grips to length, or did they fit as is from Oxford.

You need to pull the fuel tank off it’s moorings, but don’t need to disconnect anything or pull it off. You want to route your battery (feed) cable from under seat up to the front of the undertank space. And the front section of the tank has lots of room to run the grip cables and thermostat to and hold all of those connections. But they all just simply plug in once run using molex connectors.

No cutting of the grips. But I had other grips on already so I got a new throttle tube for the heated grip so I can easily switch back to my Kuryakan grips come spring.

Thank you very much for the information.

I really haven't figured out how the Quick Release Connector from the fuel line to the fuel tank works so I have been avoiding removing the tank.

Is the new throttle a Honda Part?

You have done pretty much what I want to do, I too want Kuryakan grips and also heated grips.

Mine Saitos also have this feature (cuuting off when voltage is too low), this particular model I first bought a decade ago and then it was one of very few with that feature built in, but I don't trust that electonis gadgets built-in devices, for me- switch is way to go...

:eek:was a bit lazy lately, but meantime I bought another grips, this time for metric handlebars, because they have nicer controller (at least for me). And today was testing day, and know what, system works as intended:laugh:. Only little drawback is, that my grips puts out max 32watts, and ussualy wattage is around 45watts. Since I don't have much choise, I'll have to live with that...
