Hey all,
The 500abs. It’s mine! Quick story: It was 1986. I was 16 years old. I had my driver's license and a job. The first Rebel 250 had just come out and I saw the ad in a magazine. I was TOTALLY blown away and mesmerized. I tore the ad out and pinned it to my wall. I thought it was the coolest thing I’d ever seen and I wanted to experience that sense of freedom that the print and tv ads hyped up. I calculated how long it would take me to save up for it and presented my plan to buy a motorcycle to my parents. DENIED. I got over it and life went on. Fast forward 30 years. I’m middle aged, have a career I love, three great kids, and an great girlfriend. I’m a lucky SOB. About 2 months ago I thought it would be fun to buy a Ruckus. I watched a thousand youtube vids, which led to Grom, tu250 and caferacer vids - which led me to researching beginner bikes, msf classes and gear/bike reviews.. The desire to experience that “motorcycle freedom” was again burning inside me at the same **** time the new Rebel was unveiled! (Coincidence?! I don’t think so!) Anyway, like many newbies, I did hours and hours (and then MORE hours) of reading and watching vids trying to figure out what would be a sensible first bike. And when I saw the new Rebel I was again blown away and mesmerized. No matter where I looked I just kept coming back to her. So I went for it and am so friggin excited for the fun adventures to come with my Rebel 500. Also, I’m super excited to nerd out with y’all and learn. Thanks for for reading this and CHEERS!
