So apparently because of an earthquake or something the Honda Rebel has been delayed until May.

When I first went to aquire about the bike I was told it would be the first week of April.
Then I was told by the dealership and confirmed by Honda that they were actually shipping out on April 17th and I would be able to pick the bike up this week.
I just went to the dealer to see what day I could pick it up , and I am now told that the bike has been pushed back to May. Maybe somewhere between the 4th-7th.

This is getting kind of annoying. I keep getting myself excited and then let down.

Has anyone else heard similar information from their dealer? This is what I was told today by two different dealerships.

Something like an earthquake induced delay would have had to happen in the open ocean or here at this point. So if you're dealer wasn't pulling you along, then these would have been in the states sometime ago. Just slow boating time alone would take 10 days, and if they expected them on showroom floors in another week then they are already here or the "quake" happened long enough ago for word to have gotten to dealers?

It's not delayed. The dealer I spoke with said it needs to go through testing to meet a US standard. Therefore, it could take a couple extra weeks in the on boarding process.
That is a little weird considering the engine and exhaust have already been through testing in the US, and Honda originally said the bikes would be shipping to dealers this week.

I contacted them on twitter and their response was "The Rebel has not been delayed. Due to transit, dealer shipments will vary depending on location."

Both me and my friend had the Rebel ordered from 2 different dealerships. Both of them at the beginning of this month had the bike list as ariving this week in their computer system. And both of them were told they were delayed.

I don't exactly know how Motorcycles get distributed, but I guess it is posible that the Distributer for my Area is at fault here. If they actualy go to a distributer before going to the dealership.

I don't know how something could be considered not delayed when the date has changed several times. I guess that is why Honda tries to avoid giving hard timelines. That way they can change them. When I originally inquired I was told the first week of April then the last week of April, then the week of the 17th, now the week of the May 4th.
It isn't that I can't wait, I just wish I could get an actual date so that I can be ready. It would be nice to not keep hearing 100 different things.
