We still haven't got an owners manual yet so excuse the question, but do your rebels need to have the clutch lever pulled in order to start the bike on the starter button?

Reason I'm asking is ours doesn't need the clutch pulled, it will start just fine yet I can see wiring for a clutch switch on the lever housing?

When in netural, and with or without the kickstand down, you'll be able to start it without holding the clutch in.
If your bike is in gear you'll need to hold it in to start it.

Cheers. So it's normal on rebel then. Just on my Triumph Speed Triple the starter button is deactivated until the clutch is pulled in. Even in neutral with stand up or down. Same on a Vespa I've got.

I'm a little annoyed by the fact that I'm not allowed to change gears on it unless the engine is running.
I guess they added that as a safety measure on the Rebel, so that kids can't get it in neutral and cause it to start moving.

You can change gear with engine off? Just rock the bike back and forwards while your shifting.

Huh, haven't tried rocking the bike, now I know! Gotta go find me some rocks tomorrow then, does it need to be big rocks, or will smaller ones do?
