At the 12 min 38 sec mark in this youtube video it shows the guy popping a wheelie. What do you think his starting speed was when he got it off the ground? and what gear do you think he was in to make it happen? Did he just lay on the throttle or did he rev the h-ell out of it and pop the clutch? Mind you it wasn't up very long but it sure was cool looking to me.

You can pretty much wheelie any bike, even those large touring ones with hard luggage cases everywhere. Do you really want to do it is another question.

Do a youtube search on Goldwing wheelies if you want to see something different.

Wow and that's with a passenger!
Well.. There is a reason to as why he is struggling at first when he is alone on the bike, vs when he has a passenger on.
The passenger ads the extra needed weight needed to easily lift the bike.
It's all about weight distribution.

First gear, keep bike around 15km per hour. Clutch in, open throttle all the way. Drop clutch.

Advise you to grip the tank hard with your knees.

Also works in 2nd gear with the "stand, squat and lift" method. Not advised tho.

And you can actually hold that wheelie for quite a while. Just need to pull back on the bars. And the bike can back flip. So don't over so it.

Have fun.

Disclaimer, in Ontario, a wheelie is considered a stunt maneuver, and therefore in violation of the HWY safety act

In California a wheelie is considered "exhibition of speed" so officer can have discretion to send you to jail or ticket depending on where you did it and did you endanger any other people.

I never do it because it is hard on the clutch which is costly to repair and a pain once it starts slipping in higher gears. YouTube is full of wheelie videos. Watch and enjoy someone else destroying their bike slowly or quickly if they crash too.

yesterday i was out riding, when i saw 2 guys on sport bikes pull wheelies from a red light, through the intersection. 10 seconds later I saw a cop turn on his lights and pull them over. it was the best thing ever :ROFLMAO:
