Hi there!

Has anyone installed bar end weights on her/his rebel 500? I´d like to do this, but first I want to know:
Is the handlebar on the rebel one of the common honda handlebars with a 6mm thread on the end (and not an open one)?
And are there this half-moon incisions which are compatible to the most honda- bar end weights?

I have ordered weights like this, (seller says, they are compatible) and I hope they are the proper type.

THX!
So, it seems, I cannot use them. I thought, the rebel has the same handlebar interior as most other honda bikes. My seller told me that too.
I don´t need them very urgent, but I have a few scratches on the rubber grips and so I thought, I can cut them out, screw the weights in and case closed. Maybe sometime I install new grips.

Here, what I meant:

Those weights you show are external I believe, so you could drill the correct size hole in the internal weights and thread them.
You may have to use a spacer or choose different grips so that the new weights do not snag the throttle movement.
The bars are quite difficult to drill accurately to keep the drill bit centered while on the bikes side stand.

My last best hope is:
maybe european Rebels have other handlebars as from other countries/ continents. All german or european dealers with bike-databases including the rebel, are selling this weights as compatible.
So I had mailed Honda about the problem, but no answer yet.
But if not, I give up the idea of weights- it´s not worth it to do a lot of work with this little outcome (I know, I´m a lazy guy!). Sometimes I replace the handle-grips.

Not sure about other brands, but if you install Kuryakyn grips, you can get weighted end caps for them.

You´re right.
Today I tested with a small probe if there is any boring behind the rubber ends of the grip. I found none, only this metal plug, fully build in. No hole, no boring.

So I have to send back these bar end weights.
Many online sellers with a database where you can pick matching parts for your bike, have a lot of bar end weights for the rebel, obviously they don´t know much about the handlebar of this bike and mismatch it with other honda- handlebars.
Also I told them, to cancel all this mismatching bar end weights for the rebel from their databases.
