Well, Some German had to stretch out the Rebel on the Autobahn to see what it's actually capable of!

My best guess he was going 105 MPH. It doesn't surprise me that he could go faster in 5th gear, I am sure a lot of the gearing choices made by the engineers are for environmental concerns. I rode a lot of miles with a 4 speed transmission and would be glad to go back to a 4 speed transmission with wide spacing between gears.

Yeah I too knew it would go to the 100 range (160), but didn't expect it to go past that. But did you catch the surprice that he wrote?

I'm kinda surprised that the bike actually went a 105 in 5th! Was not expecting that at all! I seriously need to get a tach meter on mine to get used to where the rev limit is at...
But yeah, they certainly could have had the layout of the gears made different. 6th gear is basically just a cruiser gear to get the mpg down a notch.

We had a 1987 Rebel 450 before this new Rebel 500 and it had an over-rider 6th gear specifically for cruising. Not quite the same but I'm not surprised it's no faster in 6th

I wonder how accurate his speedometer might be at that speed. If he has done nothing to correct it, then a GPS might have shown him to be doing 100 or slightly less.

The CBR bikes has a little higher top speed, since they tweaked the engine when they placed it in the Rebel. So compaired to the top speed of the CBR it's pretty much spot on.

After this video tried my bike to make maximum speed.

I got 173 Km/h

And it's was not the end. I took the engine down cuz we have a terrible traffic on the highways.

They top out at 110mph or 177km. At least that’s when the governor kicks in here in the states. Might have been 109 or 111 but in that general area it shuts you down.

I top 150km/h before running out safe road. Can do better if the road & traffic permits.

I got mine up to 105 mph just after xmas last year after buying it in November, but if the speedo is overclocked by 10% as most are then I probably done around 93 to 96 mph. but it did shudder abit in the wind in the U.K.

I had no trouble reaching 108 mph (175km) on mine no problems but the wind, It was quick to reach that speed and im heavy 264lbs(120 kg).

So yesterday I had along and straight road and I decided to top the 108 i did last time and I got it to 115 and i think she can go faster but the wind drags me so far back is hard to keep that speed
