To estimate about 2/3 a gallon left and about 40 miles left.

No, I don't have the owner manual.
Only the service book.

Actually (I just checked), it is a generic booklet, explaining warranty and service mileage not even for the CMX.
The dealer has filled the next mileage and the reference of the model.

The bike should get around 180 miles per tank. But that would be running it dry. And normally the gauges are just an estimated amount left and do not decrease in a linear way.

Fred, you should have gotten an instruction manual with your bike, mine (in Dutch) is 120 pages and full of important information about your bike, talk to your dealer about it, you really need this.

170 miles -> 10l -> 2.64 gallons -> 64.4 mpg.

The consumption is going slightly down.

My average fuel economy over the first 400 miles is 55.5 mpg. So, my safe range for a tank of fuel is 150-160 miles. Hopefully my avg mpg will increase as the engine gets broken in.
