Fast 31,A quick and simplified video I made showing how to change the oil on a 2017 Honda Rebel 500

The oil still comes out without removing the filler plug. It would be the same principle as oil comes out of the bottle without opening a cap on the endShouldn't you remove the filler plug first, to allow air to enter as the oil goes out..?
Yes ofc it does, was merely thinking as in means of easier/faster kinda thing. The oil still comes out without removing the filler plug. It would be the same principle as oil comes out of the bottle without opening a cap on the end![]()
I probably wouldnt have put the drain screw back in until after removing the filter in case some of that oil spilled back into the engine. But otherwise it is fine to remove the drain plug first.Shouldn't you remove the filler plug first, to allow air to enter as the oil goes out..?
Yeah I had that thought too, at the back of my head.I probably wouldnt have put the drain screw back in until after removing the filter in case some of that oil spilled back into the engine. But otherwise it is fine to remove the drain plug first.
No, it's a crush washer not just a plain washer.Guys, can the oil drain washer be bought at a hardware store? I know it's just $1.00, but c'mon, I can buy a dozen of them online or at my local hardware store.
Thanks! No, it's a crush washer not just a plain washer.
I didn't know that as I have a stand I put my bikes on to change the oil.On the rebel, at least the 500, just take the oil filter off in bike's natural kickstand position and the oil will not hit the exhaust.
I think I might try that next timeI cover the exhaust with a piece of Reynolds Wrap (aluminum foil) and that keeps the oil going into the drain pan.
