Kriega a viable luggage solution?

Hi guys,

I've been looking into luggage options for the Rebel. Previously I'd made use of Cargo Nets as my old yammy had a luggage rack. But, looking at the luggage racks, they all seem pretty expensive for what they are. I mean the dealer wanted £500+ for the saddlebags and frame.

I came across these: https://kriega.com/accessories/os-rack-loops that look like they will just bolt on to the rear fender. I can then get Kriega straps and a possible daypack (maybe secondhand, 'cos those things are expensive too)

Has anyone used this or something similar before? What would you recommend?

The only problem I see with them is that they are M6, the existing bolts on the fender are M8.

So you are either looking at drilling 4 new M6 holes in the fender for these to fit, or drilling these out to M8 (which looks it would break them) or somehow adapting from M6 to M8 which would be a mess.

I use these and can recommend them, you can buy them on Ebay, they come in M8 in various colours. I just removed the black section (due to its profile) and replaced it with a 25mm nylon washer to protect the paintwork. These work brilliantly with straps or bungee hooks.

Oh, I didn't even realise they were a different size. I'm glad I asked now! What would I need to search for to buy those bolts you posted?

Sorry I should have said - they are listed on Ebay (in the UK at least) as swingarm sliders.

I got them from china, they usually take a couple of weeks and cost a few £ per pair. With the black section removed they are about 1" across and stick out from the fender about 1".
I have the silver rebel but the fender section with the bolts is black so I went for the black ones and they can barely be seen. Of course if you want them to be seen then you have the other colour choices.

I also know that the blue ones on a black bike look stunning.

This is an example

dispo/thesophbot,
Did either of you manage to get those sliders to work with the Kriega rack loops. Im guessing the centre point on the rack loops are 6mm and so too small for those bobbins?

Cheers,
sombaht

I have the sliders fitted and use bungees with them or something like the ROK straps.
The curved profile of the slider is perfect for holding the hook of the bungee or the hoop of the ROK in place.

I ordered the kriega os rack loops and the Kriega US- dry pack loops. I was going to have a look at fitting them this weekend but it's too cold. I think the dry pack loops would be the easier option because you can use the existing bolts. Will update when I can.
