Biltwell Tank Bag

Hey forum

I recently got a hold of a Biltwell Exfil-11 Tank Bag.

Not a huge fan of saddlebags so this is a perfect route for me to take.

Here's a few pics of how it looks on our bike, please excuse the frost, its still cold here in Canuckistan.

Some of the features I really like are:
  • the size
  • clear map/item holder top
  • orange inside so nothing gets lost or hard to find (if you ever had a black inside to a bag before you know this pain)
  • top and bottom port holes for cords
  • holds 11 cans of your favorite beverage
  • magnets hold tight as ol heck, they also conveniently fold back on themselves when not in use so you dont pick up metal bits around your garage

I never knew nothing, so there's nothing to forget.

I'm always skeptical to such bags that "fastens" by magnets. Aren't you worried about the paint?

On another note, how have you made that stand work for the front tire??

haha dont mind the stand i had to move the bike around - its balanced - with sheer will power :P

not so much worried about the paint as long as i keep the pads clear of debris - its also not an every day use item for me but will be very helpful in the long rides. Will keep you up to date after i get some use out of it though.

hey Illec i gave a breakdown for the headlight setup here as i spent a lot of time investigating

After scouring the interwebs I came across this headlight which has the Halo spliced right into the Low beams:

Eagle Lights 5 3/4" Daymaker Generation II LED Headlight with White Halo Ring

As others have pointed out - the stock Rebel light has no way to clip a external Lens in, its housing is one complete unit basically.

I picked up this housing:

Hozan Black 5.75" LED Headlight Lamp Shell Bucket Housing Mount

The install was pretty straight forward - 100% plug and play - however the amount of cables you need to cram into the housing along with the light was..well lets just say i exercised every swear word i had in my vocabulary

heres a gallery of the light in all its glory, pretty happy with how it came out. dont mind the mark on the housing you can see in the pic i just hadnt wiped it off before i snapped the pics :P

Hey Kenny,

The horn itself

As for the setup its a work in progress as its too cold for wrenching in my un-insulated work space at the moment

But basically i unhooked the horn that was stock, and placed the new horn into its bracket - it works much louder however im going to have to lengthen the cable running to it right now as its quite short to begin with and i dont want it becoming unplugged mid ride!

Hulk,

Do you have one or two horns in the bracket?

Did you have to use a relay?

On other Hondas that I have changed the horn I usually just made an extension cable to connect the horn. When it was time to sell the Hondas it was quick and easy to change back to the factory horn....

When the weather warms up maybe you could post some more pics of the horn.

I used a tank bag on my old bike with shiny blue paint all the time, the magnets don't move around and didn't cause any scuffing. Quality bags have a softer material covering the magnets. If your worried, a little extra attention to the wax in that area should solve any concerns you should have
