Speedo defect & H2C aluminium Fender update

My wife and I made a call to Honda HQ in Bangkok

Although they admit there's a problem with the speedos and some need replacing, we just couldn't squeeze out from them why & how many are affected. This is normal as manufactures rarely admit reasons of production faults to the field.
He said that I can take the bike to any authorised Honda dealer and they should fix or replace the unit.

The H2C Fender which is what I have on my bike.
Has now ceased production, as Honda said it was only a limited edition Fender.
I would think the same with the front too.

Although a little expensive compared to others around, it is aluminium and the heavy duty brackets etc are all good quality.
Shame really

There are a few remaining ones dotted around the Honda Bigwing dealers

I contacted my dealer about this issue, and it's been over a week and still not heard back. I poked them in regards of a reply, and they were still waiting to hear back from the main office from Honda Norway, and would give me an answear as soon as they heard back from them. So yeah, over a week, really? Smells fishy to me...

I might not ever actually change to a shorter fender, but gods know that I want one!
So it sounds a little strange to me to just stop making them.. Why hand that business over to someone else? Because surely, someone is going to make that part awailable again.

Believe me short guards are no fun in the rain and you have to wash everything your wearing, including helmet.
I'm trying to think of a way to fashion a slip on off extension when it's the monsoon season

Yeah, that's the reason why I might never actually get one, since here every other day it's raining... Not wort the hassle that comes with it in the long run. My bike ain't for show and tell either, it's meant to be used, so functionality wins.

You have those plate holders like the one in the picture that some use when having a short fender. I doubt such a thing will keep you totaly dry in the wet, like a whole fender will, but I am curiouse to as how much something like this would help, if it even does help.

Lyoko,

Apparently the plate holder works on sports bikes. I see it a lot, I think on Ducatis.

I think they call them splash guards too, but I've actually found one that's made for the Rebel, I'm might give it a try.
Another one I saw on a Rebel was specially made for the Yamaha R15, fashioned to make it fit.
