Are you using an aftermarket exhaust?

Are you sure you are talking about backfiring and not after firing?

I had a Honda mechanic tell me that with the OEM muffler being so efficient at blocking out noise we probably had after firing and didn't hear it. If you are concerned about after firing there real inexpensive ways to work around this. You do not need to invest a fortune in a Power Commander.

Usually a backfire is a loose connection in the system. It sucks in air when you let off the throttle and results in a backfire. Check all the connections. I had a loose clamp from the pipe to the muffler when it was new.

Backfiring is unburned fuel firing in the exhaust somewhere. I have had the guts of the can blown out on another bike. It was mis-firing. Is that clue for you?

Just do it! (I did: 2017 Rebel 500; 2014 MT-07)
