Need help with exhaust header

Hi guys. I wrapped my stock exhaust on the CMX500 but forgot to take before photos.

Now I put the headers back on only to realized there's a gap between the engine block and the header flange (all four screws has the same gap distance). I have new OEM copper ring gaskets installed but can not figure out why there is still a gap after I screwed everything down. Can you have a look at your bike and let me know if you have this gap or is the header flange flushed against the engine? Thanks in advance!

Thanks Richard. A written confirmation would've been fine but I do appreciate the pictures. I have to find some time to redo this with new ring gaskets, those things aren't cheap

Ryan,

Have you started the engine to see if there is a leak?

I couldn't tell. It was installed last night, and I had to ride to work this morning 35mi commute. Didn't notice any power loss, strange noises, or anything out of the ordinary other than the exhaust note being deeper due to it being wrapped. What method should I do to check for leaks?

Ryan,

I always use a small candle like the ones from the Christmas Eve Service.

Start the bike and step aside and light the candle, and bring it up close to where you suspect the leak. If there is a leak the candle will blow out.

Good Luck,
