Bleeding ABS Brakes

Just wondering if anyone has gotten a Rebel shop manual.

From the reading I've done about it, some bikes with ABS can't have the brakes bled
without hooking it up to a computer and running a program that pumps the ABS cylinder,
(or something like that). And for some bikes, it's a dealer operation.

Just wondering if that applies to the new Rebels.

If the Rebels are like the CB500 versions, you can replace you brake fluid on ABS bikes without difficulty. I have done mine.

If there's air trapped in the ABS pump you need to have the solenoid operated to release it. This needs the software to tell the bike to do so in the workshop. Problem is you could bleed the brake without it and it seems perfectly fine, until one day you pull hard, the ABS kicks in and you immediately get air in the brake system.
Twizzian and Lyoko like this.
