Changing Rim size

Hi guys, this is my first post. I have been on my Rebel 300 for 13k km and the quality of stock tires are so unstable so i think its time to change it, im living in Vietnam so the Pirelli Mt 60 and Michelin commander are hard to find, also its crazy expensive, cost around 700$ for the Michelin, the MT60 is unknown due to i cant find any dealer have it for 16'' rim. I dont trust the VeeRubber tire from Thailand so i have no choice. But im thinking about changing the Rim to 17'' size in order to have more options on tires. So my question are:
-is it safe to change the rim size?
-Will it weaken the rear fender or worst, will it crack any thing on my bike since it designed for 16" rim?
I found that Harley also have a lot of model not using the 16". Thanks heaps

I have changed rim size on my bikes without problems but mine have spokes. Your challenge is going to be finding a rim that has the same hub configuration. On a spoked wheel you just reuse the hub and get new hoop and spokes. Not sure what your going to find for rims that will work.
Kenny G likes this.

Nice, how many miles you have on the new rim? I have thought about the spokes rim but not sure how it rolls on the urban street or bad quality highway. What rim are you using? I dont know if a Cbr300r's rim will fit the rebel but i like the look and also its a safer choice cause all the same weight and engine size

I am embarrassed to say I only put 250 miles on that bike last year. You could get lucky to find a rim from a different bike - better to stay with Honda bikes for it to be more likely a fit. Maybe a friend will let you take tires off his bike to try on yours. LOL
