Drilling the stock baffle

So... ahead of V&H releasing the only slip-on I'm willing to spend cash on I decided to have a go at drilling out the baffle on the stock exhaust. If you look down the end of the stock pipe (with a bright led torch) you'll see there is a solid baffle about 20cm down, and it's about 1mm thick. To start with I got a steel drill bit and using an extension drilled about 6, 5mm holes in it to see if it makes any difference... it does, but not enough.

I'm going buying a 30mm steel hole saw later, use the extension again and drill a single 30mm hole through the baffle. Will post results once done.

Wish me luck :-)

Double luck!, post a sound clip if you can.

Only a fool would attempt it, and God help me, I am that fool.

Really happy with the sound. It’s much louder, and has more of a poppy, growly sound to it. Sounds more like a proper motorcycle. I’ve added a before and after video, you really need headphones to hear it properly. I took it for a test ride and it sounds so much better now. Bear in mind that in the first video Id already drilled some holes, so it was already slight louder than stock. Tbh, I like the look of the stock can, it’s suits the bobber look and this bike. I’m probably not going to change this now as I’m happy with the loudness and sound. It cost me £8 ($10) and about an hour of my time. I’d recommend doing it to anyone who wants a better sound from the stock exhaust. I’ll try to get a vid added of a drive by at some point.

I did 3 x 1/2" holes in mine before getting the TBR. I did like the stock muffler pretty well too but ohhhhh man. The TBR is another beast altogether. I don't think i can go back to the stock muffler now. It's a whole new bike.

Really! I like the look of the V&H but there is hardly any info on when it’s available. I emailed and got a reply of Jan 2020... I do like the TBR sound but really do not like the carbon fibre tip. Carbon fibre does not suit the bike imo

I think it sounds great, I've been waiting on someone to do this and post a sound clip. Thank you!
