Coolant type

Hi All,

Owner of the new 2017 Honda Rebel 500A, what kind of coolant can I use to top off the reservoir tank. Does it have to been the Honda one or any 50:50 premix will work?

I have a Prestone 50:50 premix can for my car. will this work?

It "has" to be the Honda one, it's a special coolant that they use.
But, supposedly there is some coolant out there that has all the required specifications as the Honda coolant have, and thus can be used instead, but I've not found one so far...

It does not have to be Honda specific... Just like the motor oil. Of course Honda is going to tell you you have to use their own. I just buy the green 50/50 mix.

You still have to follow the spesification spesified for each fluids, otherwise you end up ruining your engine....

I am not sure why an engine would need coolant unless the cooling system is leaking overheating.
