Dead sea trip

Took a trip to the dead sea with a friend who's riding a CB650F. Did around 300km, half in highways and half on twisty / bendy roads. Amazing scenery and good company.

Enjoy the view from the lowest place on Earth.

Wow that looks awesome. There's desert's out west in the US but in the northeast where I am there's nothing like that at all. I'd love to experience cruising through a wide open place like that.

I was tempted, but only for a minute. I much prefer the feeling of solid tarmac under the wheels

This is just a taste. I was too busy riding to take more pics, but the ride down to and up from the dead sea include some amazing scenery. We have a lot of desert in Israel (2/3 of the country), so more sandy yellow pics will follow as soon as I ride south again.

What amazes me is that from central Israel (say 10km from the sea), it took us just over an hour (plus coffee stops) to reach the desert - we honestly thought it'll take us longer.

The ride itself was superb and the Rebel handled it extremely well, highways and twisties alike.

Btw, on the ride back, while on the highway, I forgot to shift into 6th, and rode for about 30-40km in 5th, at about 120-130kph (oops). I know I was stretching it a bit (wasn't done on purpose), but the bike handled it surprisingly well, which in my mind adds a few more points to the resilience and quality of Honda

If anyone likes their history, the third pic from the bottom, shows two flat peaks. The one on the right is called Massada, and it's an old palace fort built by the Roman king Herod, who also rebuilt the second temple in Jerusalem. More info in
Wikipedia

The pic at the top (with me obstructing the view), is in the south of the dead sea, with the Jordanian Edom mountains in the background. You can clearly see pools of salt water used by the dead sea salt industries, which sadly, drains huge amounts of water from this natural phenomenon.

Some german streched the bike to get to it's max speed, and he did 170 km/h in 5th gear. Sooo... Don't worry

Looks awesome. I miss the Judeaen Desert, although when riding, I never experienced anywhere with temps higher than 25c.
