New Rebel 300 Owner

Hello everyone! Glad to be part of this community.

I have previously owned an HD Iron 883 (wrecked on freeway) and then an HD Roadster 1200 (could no longer afford and said goodbye to about 1-1/2 years ago). I LOVED my 1200 but could not afford to get anything too expensive this time around.

I found this pre-owned 2018 Rebel 300 with 591 miles on it and first service completed for only $4200 at a local Honda dealer still under factory warranty. Thanks to a tax return, I OWN my bike and, although it's not on the same level as my previous bike, it's mine! That is a great feeling.

Immediate thoughts are it needs more power. Also, I want to change out the front mirrors and rear lights quickly. Other immediate purchase will be a rear seat kit from Honda.

The second pic is what i have in mind for the overall look.

Welcome. Hope you weren't hurt too badly from the wreckage.

I'd be interested in knowing how you find the transition from the 883 to the Rebel. I was leaning toward the 883 for my second bike but was a bit concerned about weight and Harley engineering.

Hello and thank you. I wasn't hurt badly in the crash. When the car cut me off, I stupidly hit the front brakes full on in the fresh rain storm which caused the front wheel to slide and turn throwing me from the bike. I bounced off my left knee and arm and rolled/slide maybe 70 feet or so. I had all my basic gear on including full helmet, gloves, vest, jeans, and boots, so it wasn't that bad. The leathers mad a HUGE difference.

As far as the 883 vs Rebel 300, it's honestly no comparison in my opinion. The 883 is awesome. I like the looks better and the power is definitely better. The 883 has better launch, speed, etc. The 883 at 85 runs better than the Rebel 300 at 65. Maybe the Rebel 500 would be a better comparison. I never had any engine or mechanical issues with either of my HDs but I have heard horror stories. When I went to the Roadster 1200, omg... that was crazy.

Only issue I ever had which my 883 was so many other riders calling it a girl bike which is ridiculous. The 883 is a smaller bike, that's for sure. But that doesn't make a mike a girl bike or a guy bike. A bike is a bike and I felt lucky just to have one. I'll dig out some pics of my other two bikes in a minute.

Thank you kindly for the input. Nice to hear you weren't badly injured. Honestly, the type of people that pass judgments and use phrases like "girls bike" or "guy's bike" aren't worth the thought, so I don't concern myself with them. Generally better to concern ourselves with better folks anyways. My main concern was mainly the weight issue, and how the 883 handles in tight corners and at low speeds. I'm a bit apprehensive about the weight increase, that's all. I also have to consider things like insurance as that is quite high in my parts of town. A much higher displacement bike would surely increase my insurance a crazy amount.
