Newb from SC

Hi, I have been lurking unregistered for a while. Reading all I could before I pull the trigger on an 18 500 non ABS. I have been riding off and on for about 40 years. On for the last 10. I ride a few bikes a 14 gl1800 F6c and a Honda CT70. Iím looking to find something in between. Recently I have bought and sold a Honda Grom and a CTX700. Neither bike filled that void. The Grom was not big enough and the CTX just was not comfortable and was a little to big for what I was looking for. Honestly the 300 may work but the 500 just seems like the better choice. As of today Iím sitting on what I think is the dealers best offer. I have read the thread that covers what folks have paid but still would like some feedback. They are in the second model year and I really donít see used for sale to gauge what the secondary market looks like. I was thinking the prices have settled down and will stabilize about where I see them today for a while at least. My out the door offer is $6086 all in taxes and they transfer my plate included. Iím not seeing much better at Track n Trail or Wisconsin area dealers that usually have the best prices. Any better prices out there maybe on 2017 leftovers?

That's a good deal I think. I paid about that OTD for my 300 w/ ABS.

Welcome. That sounds like a great price especially at this time of year.

I havenít decided yet if this is it. This forum is a wealth of information and it honestly may be the reason I pass on the bike. I like the reviews and it is a good looking ride. But, finding out on the forum that there isnt a centerstand available, risers work but the brake line needs to be replaced and the speedometer will need some remounting work, no real options for foot pegs and hiway pegs, and the price to add adjustable levers puts the price into an area where there are some more options out there. Iím still thinking this one over. Thanks for having me and it truly is a great forum.

So I pulled the trigger on an 18 Rebel 500. Silver so non ABS but it had to be the fastest color. Looking forward to being part of this forum and adding my 2cents when I can.

Centerstands are nice but why carry that weight all the time when you only really need it rarely. I have a centerstand removed from an older Honda was thinking of putting on my bike but more for a cool factor than necessity. It weighs 8 lbs and it would probably vibrate and make noise under there.
