Winter storage

I was going to put a teaspoon of oil down each cylinder for long term winter storage but removal of the spark plugs turns out to be a complicated affair. I called the dealership and they were a "little" helpful and suggested I fog the engine by way of the air intake under the seat. That's all they were able (or willing) to tell me. I can see the intake and upon a close look I see the air filter fairly deep within. Obviously, I must remove the filter which I can do. My question is...upon removal of the air filter can I proceed to safley fog the engine through that intake port?
