Rear Frame Sliders

You guys think the pegs below could double as acceptable frame sliders for the 300?

I have the T Rex crash bars, and the T Rex exhaust slider that I imagine would at least save the rear from any scrapes in the event of a slide. I've been trying to shop around for a decent slider for the other side, but the issue is that there's no place to put it on the 300. So, I ended up getting a passenger footrest bracket that will allow me to install a slider on the left side too.

The majority of sliders I'm finding have the M10 bolt, but I need the smaller M8 for correct fitment. All I'm getting is generic universal and cheap sliders that will for sure make no difference if I slide out, or ones that look way different than the T Rex on the right side. T Rex is out of stock for the next 6 weeks on their sliders.

I'm thinking this footpeg just MAY be ok...thoughts?

Slight bump (sorry, yes very Canadian).

Anyone think these pegs may work as sliders? Or will they just sheer off if I low side?

Not talking about a full speed crash. Just trying to prevent scrapes to the suspension and rear fender when the inevitable happens and the bike is dropped accidentally, or low siding on a slow speed turn etc.

I imagine if they stick out far enough they should work. Frame sliders in general risk snapping off, so using a peg wouldn't be much different. It'll likely depend on the type of metal they use to make them. If they're some cheap metal/zinc, or some type of aluminum, then they're more likely to snap off. Actual frame sliders work as well as they do because they're usually made of plastic resin and hence allow for impact absorption. Metal doesn't like to absorb all that well. But if you're trying to prevent dings from a slow drop you should be fine. I can't imagine metal pegs would break off that easily during a slow drop.

Hey thanks for the insight. That makes sense actually. They stick out far enough and would be even with the right side. That said...just checked and yeah...they're aluminum with a tiny piece of plastic on the end lol. I got them on the way, I'll see how they feel in person, but I'm not hopeful. I'll likely put them on until T rex gets their stock situation in check.

It can't hurt to try them out. Anything's better than nothing. It's better the peg breaks first and takes the majority of the force instead of the bike directly taking it. It's probably a good choice one way or the other.

Lol...well they came in today...

Yeah, likely not going to do the job. A side by side comparison below...these things are going to snap off instantly. They do feel solid, and not hollow or anything, but there's no way they won't instantly get crushed by the weight of the bike alone.

The search continues...

Well that's too bad. Did you try finding the TRex ones elsewhere? The company themselves may not have them in stock, but some place like Amazon or Revzilla may already have the part in stock.

Yeah, no dice anywhere it seems.

Krator has some pretty good sliders that are almost identical to T Rex and would be perfect, but they don't have M8 fitment option. I'm going to make a home Depot run and maybe find an M8 bolt and adapter that would fit inside the slider, which is how T Rex set up is anyway (they work with M10 and M8). The things that keep me occupied....lol.

I was hoping to have them on ASAP, but it looks like I can now take my time and figure it out while the bike is stored for winter starting mid October or so. I'm just baffled by the lack of direct options specific to this bike as it's been out for 4 years now...

Anyway, thanks for the input 🙂

Well I'll be damned... MacGyver'd the heck out of it lol.

I got a Krator slider meant for a Kawasaki, and stole an M8 bolt and adapter from a super cheap plastic 7 dollar universal slider off Amazon. Works like a charm and it's almost identical!

Now I just need my peg bracket to come in and I'm all set.
